The teacake is a southern comfort food. The history of the teacake is quite elusive but I’ve heard many stories and the common denominator has been it originated from the enslaved African ancestors’ version of the English teacake. Some say it’s a fusion between a cookie and a pound cake and some described it as a fusion of a cake, cookie, and biscuit. Each teacake is soft, flavorful, and you just can’t have one.
